Merchandising and Sampling Intern

F. Schumacher & Co., America’s leading name for manufacturing and distributing fabric, wallcovering, and furnishings, is seeking a merchandising intern for the Schumacher Hospitality division.

This New York City-based intern will report to the Associate Director of Hospitality Portfolio Development and assist with merchandising tasks including product sampling, durability testing and SKU and catalog management. The right candidate should be extremely detail oriented and have an aptitude for managing technical processes, while also having an eye for product, quality, and design.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist with SKU management and data entry for all products in the hospitality library
• Collect and log product information, specs, and certificates from vendors, ensuring all data is clear and accessible in internal systems
• Manage sampling projects from start to finish, working with external partners to coordinate needs and monitor progress
• Facilitate durability testing on products as needed and log results and certificates
• Unpack, record, organize and tag all incoming samples
• Assist with other operational and logistical tasks as needed to support the Hospitality team

You have/are:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and have a competitive GPA, or hold a bachelor’s degree
• Highly organized, exceptional follow-through skills, and true attention to detail
• A successful multi-tasker who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• A great interest (passion preferred) for interior design and product merchandising
• Knowledgeable and/or interested in textiles and wallcoverings and hospitality markets
• High level of ownership, accountability, and self-initiative
• Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Quick comprehension of online software & tools.
• A self-motivated, proactive, and positive attitude.
